GEOMAP S.A. had the honor of providing technical field training this week for PPSA professionals in the Salta region of Argentina. The training session was attended by PPSA specialists in geology, geophysics, and engineering, along with instructors from GEOMAP S.A.
The course focused on high-resolution sequence stratigraphy in microbial carbonate outcrops, rocks that serve as direct analogs to the main Brazilian pre-Salt reservoirs, particularly in the Santos and Campos Basins. These outcrops, exposed at the surface in the Salta region (Argentina), exhibit geological characteristics comparable to deep pre-Salt rocks, allowing them to be studied directly to improve their understanding, modeling, and management at the reservoir scale.
This field experience allowed us to:
- Integrate direct rock observation with geological interpretation applied to the “zoning” of oil and gas fields based on sequence stratigraphy, characterizing flow units and production zones.
- Strengthen the understanding of the processes that control the pre-Salt petroleum system.
- Contribute to the knowledge that PPSA applies in reserve management and production management processes.
