GEOMAP S.A. was proud to sponsor the 7th Argentine Congress on the History of Geology (CAHG), held in Jujuy from October 1 to 4.
The conference brought together national and international experts to review the evolution of geological knowledge in Argentina, from the 19th-century pioneers to the new structural, stratigraphic, thermal, and chronological approaches used today in industry and research.
In this context, Roberto M. Hernández, President of GEOMAP S.A., delivered the talk: “Geological Exploration in Northwestern Argentina: A History of Knowledge and Challenges.” The presentation covered:
- The historical evolution of exploration in the region (1920–2025).
- The transition from classical structural models to integrated approaches incorporating geochronology, paleomagnetism, and thermostructural modeling.
- The role of collaborative work between companies, public agencies, and universities 🤝🎓 to reduce uncertainty and exploration risk.
- The creation of LA.TE. ANDES S.A., a technology-based company dedicated to determining geological time as applied to hydrocarbons, mining, and geosciences.
We thank the organizers, speakers, and attendees for a conference of high academic caliber, which reaffirms the importance of geological history as the foundation for current scientific and technological developments.
Below, we share the presentation used during the conference.
